Tom McCarthy (Drums/Vocals)

Tom was born in Northeast Philadelphia and was raised on the sounds of Philly's soul. The Stylistics, the Delfonics, The O’Jays, and all the Gamble and Huff recording artists of the time have had a significant influence on Tom’s groove and feel behind the drumkit. Tom started his drumming career at his father's nightclub, the Caprice Lounge, when he was only eight years old. He received lessons from various drummers working in the club, which lead to opportunities to perform with the bands in the evenings. Tom was lucky enough to receive a new stack of 45 records monthly that were exchanged out of the Caprice jukebox. From the Trammps to the Commodores, Tom would spend hours spinning those records and absorbing those sounds and feels. When the Philly soul and simple funk of the early 70s gave birth to the disco era, a simple “four on the floor” drumbeat went a long way. Since moving to Phoenix in 1994 Tom has worked with local Phoenix bands such as Bonafide, Tommy Grills Band, Rod and the Young Turks (Rod Stewart cover band), and Change of Heart (Tom Petty Cover band). Tom has also attended Billy Cobham’s Art of The Rhythm Section Retreat, where he studied with Billy Cobham and Dom Famularo. He has attended lectured performance sessions featuring jazz greats Ron Carter and Kenny Baron and daily ad hoc performances with Billy's Crosswind Band, Lee Oskar (formerly of War), Wayne Cobham, and nightly performances with other local professional musicians, clinicians, instructors, and music students. Tom plays a Gretch kit with the same traditional grip as Charlie Watts with a passion and fire that makes him a perfect fit for Mick Adams and The Shagwells!

Dave Hecker (Keyboards/Vocals)

Dave, an Arizona native, has been playing keyboards for 40+ years and loves classic rock. He began playing at the age of 10 when new neighbors didn’t want a piano that had been left and gave it to Dave’s family. Amazed by his father’s skilled boogie-woogie piano talent, he taught himself to play Beatles songs and the like. By twenty-one, he was playing in local bars for money and was a member of “Attraction”, the 80’s band “Private Eyes” and The Steve Console Project, an all-original group produced with the help of none other than Steve Vai.
